Until 2018, it was illegal for Native Americans to distill alcohol on tribal lands. We fought. And we won.
Talking Cedar, a budding crown jewel of the Pacific Northwest, operates a 35,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art distillery, brewery, and restaurant. Featuring local cuisine, a robust tap list, and craft cocktails, Talking Cedar shares the flavors of native craftsmanship.
In 2016, the Chehalis Tribe wanted to establish a distillery, brewery, and restaurant alongside its existing casino and indoor water park. This idea quickly soured when it was learned that an old discriminatory law, established in 1834, said that distilling on Native lands was not allowed.
Today, Talking Cedar boasts a growing portfolio of locally-inspired craft beers and award-winning spirits such as their gin, barrel-finished brandies, whiskeys, and ongoing collaborations with esteemed industry partners like Westland Distillery on their premium American Blended Malt Whiskey and Single Cask offerings.
Talking Cedar’s beer lineup includes the fruit-forward Juicy IPA, the classic hoppy Pacific Northwest IPA, the easy-drinking Pilsner, the refreshing Raspberry Blonde, and our latest release, Chehalis Light, a light American Style Lager that promises to be like your favorite gas station beer, only better.
